Bit spoilt – Melbourne Photographer

Posted on July 27, 2010

It was my birthday on the weekend, and I was lucky to be spoilt with great company & beautiful sunshine!… But the most exciting part was, the Husband bought me a kitten!
So we’ve added to our brood of “fur babies” we now are Ying & Yang’d… 2 dogs 2 cats, a male & female of each :)

Meet Sookieh (yes… I’m a Charlaine Harris fan!)… she’s a 12 week old Manx…. and full of love! I also got a couple of bunches of flowers… this one sent from Mum & Dad in Adelaide…. Thankyou again everyone for your lovely messages!

I know its been a while since I’ve posted… Such a dramatic winter this year! Lots of sickness & computer malfunctions… but we’re getting back on track! :)

My brother and his family came to visit, and I managed to get a few casual shots while we were exploring the city & collecting leaves with my niece… Michael & I even managed to babysit, was great to spend some one on one time with our niece!

Promise it wont be as long between posts next time!

Well the lil fella weighing over 9pounds finally arrived almost two weeks late, and after the longest labour ever, Nat your a champion!
Welcome to the world Mstr Callan… looking forward to many more cuddles & photoshoots to come!

Along with Gemma from Iris Creations, close friend & newborn photographer extraordinaire we photographed Callan on Saturday, just 9 days old…

Nat & her husband Kevin met in Paris on the Eiffel Tower, so it was only natural for us to photograph their first born beside a replica, wearing a beret Gemma had knitted especially :)

There will be a few family members worldwide checking up on their new Grandson & Nephew, to you all a big Congratulations! Enjoy your preview, & make sure your check out Gemma’s aswell…

Poppies are flowers that hold lots of memories for me…. When we came across this field of poppies in Paris last year on our honeymoon, I was on the ground taking photos without hesitation… I’m sure the 100’s of people lining up in the queue to visit the underground Paris Catacombs, thought I was a little odd.. but atleast Michael knew me by now so it wasnt a shock to him.

Memories of picking wild poppies in our backyard for Mum, or maybe just because Mum’s Dad we called him Pop/Poppy.
So its fitting that Poppies also serve as a remembrance symbol of our war heroes young & old.
We lost Pop almost 20years ago, but we will never forget that he served on in WWII on the Kokoda trail & days like today I like to think of him….

Lest We Forget…

I love that feeling, when I’ve barely downloaded my memory cards, and theres a photo that just hits you, and you have to share it straight away… today its this one…

We would like to announce the winners of the Hyggelig Hallways Showcase , firstly the photo with the most votes was #4 baby Mstr L ! I can’t wait to see this one on canvas! Mstr L won by 13 votes, looks like he had some great support from family & friends.

The winner drawn for the free Hyggelig Session & desk portrait valued at $200.00 is Georgina Gordon, we’ll be emailing you shortly with details!

Congratulations and thank you again for all your votes!

No preview this week, we purposely didn’t book any sessions, because we knew some of our favourite little people where hitting the big smoke, they live about 3hrs from Melbourne, and last visited in May 2009. So we made use of our days very well, including an excursion to Scienceworks & they loved it! My favourite part was the pumping station, I couldnt help myself and take a few photos inside the station, loving the combination of massive machines, metal and years of dust and grime.. then of course the kids didn’t escape my camera…. I got a bit of cheek, but it was all in fun… will miss them a lot! Janet…

Now we’re about to get personal…. We mentioned yesterday that with our rebrand we decided to keep Hyggelig Photography as something that truly represents us.  So along with the idea of getting to know us better, a few photographers including Janet have set a challenge to take a photograph a day during January. Usually taken of something that might represent a moment from your last 24hours. Janet is even toying with the idea to make it a 365 day challenge, but we’ll cross that bridge at the end of the month. To funk up the challenge, Janet has decided to use her iPhone and an awesome app called Polarize
You will probably notice our dogs or affectionally known as our “furry babies” appear a lot… Here comes the 1st 5 days…

lifesmoments1-1-10 Hangova ~ the Dogs have a bigger hangover than us on New Years Day

2-1-10 Me Too ~ Michael &  his builder buddy have been finishing off the plasterboard in my office (*insert squeal*) and all Atticus has wanted to do all day is join in with the boys… usually he’s chewing the plasterboard.. Then theres Scouty she just likes the company :)

ourlife3-1-10 Boyzrm ~ We are in the middle or perhaps you could say just the start of our house renovations… since all the expensive stuff is still left :) Converting the front bedroom, to my office.. it was only fair Michael got his own lil place of worship…the carport has been closed in and will be become the “boys room”… Janet’s office was “boarded up” yesterday, today the garage was undercoated and should be water tight now.  Michael scored an old hand me down tv…. and today the PS2/guitar hero graduated to the boys room… Janet’s not complaining :)

4-1-10 Already ~ Enough said

sook5-1-10 Sook ~ Did he get in trouble? No.. (not today anyway) Has he been feed? Yes.. Puppy dog eyes, because Dad/Michael left the house and didnt take him too… Atticus is a big joy-ride fan. Janet’s even had to take him on a supermarket run before, because he jumped into the car and wouldnt get back out again!
