Rocktography

Rocktography is the the other side of Hyggelig Photography. Where Janet & her camera meet with Rock & Roll!

Welcome Welcome Welcome

So excited to be here on the “Night” blog…  This all came from an idea in May last year of how to keep photographing everything I love, but still having a common place to share it but also not confuse or turnaway those I was trying to seek attention of.

The “Day” blog will be here for all my family shoots, babies, kids you name it.

The “Night” blog will showcase my music work, and soon to be portfolio’d Pinup portraits.

We must give a huge shoutout and thankyou to Ando from SpandexElbow who was awesome helping make this revamp happen. Another massively deserving cyberhug to Narrelle from NJoythemoment who while took time out from her own busy photography schedule to photograph Michael & I. A couple of photos you may have noticed as our new profile photos, and a few below. Definately confirms to me as a photographer who hates getting her photo taken, how priceless it is… To record those little moments, those glances, those hugs and those kisses that mean so much.

Its going to be a great year, lots of incentives planned and new products on the price-list.

Make sure you head over to the “Day” blog and check out our Hyggelig Hallways 2010 competition, there are some great prizes up for grabs!

We look forward to visiting you, and photographing your moments of 2011 to keep forever.

Theres something we've been on working on behind the scenes for a while, a bit delayed due to the disaster that was September....
but have no fear the New Year will sort that out... so watch this space
But for now here's a hint
Today was a great day to combine all good things together, spending time with my husband Michael, watching his eyes pop over awesome HotRods...
Enjoying the sunshine, and having my camera there to document it!  We were at the Rod and Kustom Pile Up in Doncaster East today, lots of beautiful cars & gorgeous ladies.
One lady in particular I was able to photograph Lux St Sin (this might be the hint your looking for) how hot is she!
I took the opportunity to meet a few of the stallholders, like Paris Cheek Accessories, Lenny's Custom Clothing, Faster Pussycat who all had some great merchanise.
I was good though and only bought a couple of things, the 1st edition of a hot new mag called Femme Fatale and a gorgeous Christmas hair pin from Homewreckers
Ok enough talking heres some photo's checkout Michael, looking like an excited school boy... love it

Love my new Christmas hairclip :) my 1st piece of Christmas purchased for 2010… I’ve been a bit slow this year…. Janet xx

A few weeks ago now I was fortunate to be involved in a gorgeous albeit “fresh” Spring Carnival Fashion shoot…
Tracy Straight launched Fashion Artiste this year, a wicked online store for Australian & New Zealand fashion, make sure you bookmark the page and sign up for her mailing list

Tracy has lots of awesome ideas in mind to combine her love of Fashion & Art, and I was excited to photograph the first of many concept fashion shoots!
Gorgeous model Kyrie Capri was a trooper while it was technically spring & the sun was shining, the air was a little on the cool side :)

Hope you enjoy my favorites, Tracy has published a great portfolio listing the labels, but also make sure you head over to Fashion Artiste to do some shopping too!!

A grey September…

Posted on September 30, 2010

Every photographer I know looks forward to September, it means spring, pretty light, daylight savings & so much fun inspiration!

When September rolled in, it was proving to be a big one this year, Hyggeligwise and personally…. yes it has been big, but not in the way I had hoped.
The spring news for Hyggelig, of mini-sessions ready for Christmas and a fun revamp got a little sidelined by some exciting personal news which I was looking forward to sharing.

Now the only news I have to share is Hyggelig Photography is still here, albeit quiet for the next few weeks.
There is a lot of healing, emotionally & physically I need to do, but while doing that I have a lot of gorgeous images that have been collecting on my harddrives just bursting to be blogged in the meantime, so please come back and check them out.

Thankyou to clients, friends & family your patience, love, support and understanding is so appreciated and adored. I am eternally grateful to everyone, but there is one person I owe the most, my beautiful husband Michael who without him, waking up every morning would be impossible… love you babe x

Meet Sookieh (yes… I’m a Charlaine Harris fan!)… she’s a 12 week old Manx…. and full of love! I also got a couple of bunches of flowers… this one sent from Mum & Dad in Adelaide…. Thankyou again everyone for your lovely messages!

Poppies are flowers that hold lots of memories for me…. When we came across this field of poppies in Paris last year on our honeymoon, I was on the ground taking photos without hesitation… I’m sure the 100′s of people lining up in the queue to visit the underground Paris Catacombs, thought I was a little odd.. but atleast Michael knew me by now so it wasnt a shock to him.

Memories of picking wild poppies in our backyard for Mum, or maybe just because Mum’s Dad we called him Pop/Poppy.
So its fitting that Poppies also serve as a remembrance symbol of our war heroes young & old.
We lost Pop almost 20years ago, but we will never forget that he served on in WWII on the Kokoda trail & days like today I like to think of him….

Lest We Forget…

Red is one of my favourite colours, so when I met Lola on the Epiphanie Bag website for the first time, my jaw dropped with excitment!

To find a bag that looks like a designer handbag and carries my camera just as safe as my standard (..ugly..) camera bag is a dream come true! Even Michael could understand why I was excited :)

So when fellow photographers Rachel & Peta announced a competition on their Beyond Snapshots blog, I started going through my old galleries for a “Red” photo… Then on Sunday as I walked into an old warehouse for a shoot with a local Melbourne band, I spied these gorgeous RED armchairs by the window, by the RED fire extinguisher…. SOLD!!

So here’s my photo, keeping my fingers crossed I get to meet Lola soon :)

Meet Tracy…

“The Fashion Artiste site grew from my love of fashion and particularly my great love of purchasing fashion online. I still enjoy it as much as I did  when online shopping started becoming popular way back in the 80’s. The joy of being able to shop from the comfort of my couch, the dog stretched out beside me, and the cat on the lap. Not great for the posture possibly, but good for the soul! he Fashion Artiste site has been a while coming for me. It’s something that I knew that I always wanted to do, so I thought I’d  just give it a go. It combines all that I love about fashion, illustration and art, and gives me a chance to utilize my nerdy web development experience along side the creative stuff.”
